Career at weba
Getting Started and Early Years
Jürgen Weiß is a true weba veteran. After graduating from the HTL in Waidhofen with a focus on mechanical engineering, he started his professional career briefly at BEKO in Linz before joining weba in April 2005 through a leasing arrangement. Already in December of the same year, he was permanently employed – and has been a fixed part of our team ever since.
For around three years, Jürgen gained valuable experience as a design engineer before becoming a project planner in design. From 2015 onward, he took over the management of the engineering department, first in Dietach and, from 2018, across all locations.
Transition to Technical Sales
After many years in project management, Jürgen felt the desire for change. Projects in design are complex and often stretch over long periods until all departments have completed their work. “The moments of success sometimes take a long time to arrive,” he recalls. At the same time, he had experienced in the past how rewarding collaboration with customers can be. One project with Daimler about 15 years ago remains particularly vivid in his memory: “The cooperation was great, the tools worked well, the customer was very appreciative – that’s when I realized I wanted to work more in that direction.” These positive experiences with customers, combined with his desire for more direct interaction, strengthened his decision to make the switch. His many years of experience in design and project planning are, of course, a great advantage in his current role.
Today, he especially enjoys the variety. Different customers, changing requirements, and direct contact with decision-makers make the work exciting. Compared to project management, he experiences success in sales more quickly: “You can tell faster when something works out.” In addition, he appreciates the greater flexibility in organizing his tasks and working hours – something that is very important to him for balancing work and family life.
The Person Behind the Role
Family and Balance
Jürgen is the father of three small children. For him, family is the most important balance and the place where he can recharge his energy. Whether playing together, taking small trips, or simply the everyday routines – this is where he finds peace and strength for his workday. Besides that, he enjoys spending time with friends over a drink or relaxing while fishing.
Even in his free time, balance is important to him. Time with friends, fishing in nature, or his special hobby: pyrotechnics. Since 2011, he has been working part-time as a pyrotechnician. The adrenaline, the detailed preparation, the high precision, and the excitement fascinate him – and when everything works perfectly, the satisfaction is immense.
Values and Team Spirit
For Jürgen, flexibility and a strong team are essential. “At weba, I have a reliable, solution-oriented team that doesn’t overanalyze problems but looks ahead.” This team spirit defines the working atmosphere for him.
He also appreciates the flexibility that the company offers and the fascination of the industry itself: “The products are still just as interesting to me as they were on the first day.” The internal celebrations are also always memorable experiences for him – especially the earlier ones with the company founders.
And when it comes to his daily motivation, Jürgen is clear: he doesn’t need to think about whether he wants to go to work. “I simply enjoy going to work.”
Life Motto
For Jürgen, it is important not to delay decisions unnecessarily. He is convinced that only action makes progress possible. Those who think too long or make no decision at all risk missing opportunities and standing still. This attitude has accompanied him for many years – both in his professional and private life. Especially in project and sales environments, he has learned that it is often better to take a clear direction and learn from it rather than remain uncertain.
„Better a quick decision than none at all - stagnation only leads to missed opportunities“
Advice for Young People
Jürgen has a clear message for the next generation: consistency pays off. Job hopping may seem financially tempting at first glance, but for him, the true value lies elsewhere. “The standing you achieve through years of experience in a company and the security of having a strong, trusted team around you – that cannot be replaced by a short-term change.”
His advice: patience, willingness to learn, and trust that long-term commitment pays off. Those who take responsibility and continue to grow create a foundation that enables both stability and development.
Jürgen’s story shows how diverse a career at weba can be: from design engineer to project planner to Head of Technical Sales. His path is characterized by curiosity, determination, and the courage to take on new perspectives. Today, he combines his technical experience with customer focus and flexibility – and finds exactly the mix that fulfills him. For him, it’s clear: weba offers not only exciting tasks and responsibility but also the right environment for personal and professional growth.
